Manse of the Mysteriarch

 The world is dying. The ancient satellites which held back the growth of the sun are failing, and with every passing year the star that once gave life to a whole planet grows larger and darker. The moon has long since broken apart, forming a ring of dust and debris which now orbits the Earth. Many lands have sunken beneath the waves following a global warming event in the ancient past, and more still have joined together into a new pangaea. This final continent is called Thargol.

Sujultan is a cold, arid region located near the equator. At some point in the long-distant past it was a fertile, humid region, but the eons have not been kind to it. In the Age of the Red Sun it is a wasteland, largely devoid of life beyond the city-state of Yultor and a handful of nomadic tribes.

At the center of Yultor is a large building, more palace than house, carved from ancient white stone and decorated with mystic runes. Within this luxurious mansion lives Lorengul the Mysteriarch, sorcerer-king of Yultor. It is whispered among Yultor's citizens that he is the richest man in Sajultan, but the true extent of his wealth is unknown.
